In preparation for the imminent abandonment of this site’s anonymous authorship, I thought it appropriate to add my iteration of an autobiographical list meme that is probably at least a year old. I have no idea where it originated, but I first stumbled upon it at KlutzyGirl’s blog My Chaotic Neurotic Klutzy Life….

Here are the Nine Layers of Michael.

LAYER ONE:

Hair color: Medium brown (although sometimes light brown thanks to Garnier Nutrisse 601)
Height: 6 foot 2.5 inches
Righty or lefty: Righty
Zodiac sign: Virgo

LAYER TWO:

Your heritage: Irish, Polish, German (Hungarian last name, though)
The shoes you wore today: Nike Air Zoom Vapor ID (custom designed at NikeID.com)
Your weakness: Dark chocolate (it’s bittersweet, much like life itself), Ben & Jerry’s Oatmeal Cookie Chunk, coffee syrup, my Mac, my TiVo, strong and intelligent women
Your fears: Loneliness, alienation, failure
Your perfect pizza: Everything (except anchovies or fruit)
Goal you’d like to achieve: Going back to get my Master’s

Smoke: Never (unless you count secondhand smoke from inconsiderate people who smoke indoors in public places or in entryways)

Do you think you’ve been in love: Yes (always unrequited, though)
Want to go to college: Yes, I want to go back to get an advanced degree, but my overwhelming debt may prevent this.
Liked high school: Not really. I have some fond memories, though.

Think you’re attractive: I really don’t know anymore.

Made homemade cookies: No. Maybe after the diet, I’ll bake up some Oatmeal Scotchies.

LAYER SEVEN: Ever…

Played a game that required removal of clothing: Yes, strip poker
If so, was it mixed company: Yes, but it never went far enough to really matter.
Been trashed or extremely intoxicated: Yes. The last “extreme” time was in the middle of a field with Strawberry Hill Boone’s Farm. The memory of it still makes me nauseous.
Been caught “doing something”: No
Been called a tease: No
Gotten beaten up: No
Shoplifted: Yes. “Good boys” sometimes need to prove to themselves and to the world that they do have a dark side.
Changed who you were to fit in: On occasion, somewhat

LAYER EIGHT:

Age you hope to be married: 33-35
Numbers and names of children: 0 now; “2.5” over the next decade, hopefully. I don’t really have names picked out.
Describe your dream wedding: Guys don’t really plan out these things. As long as it has a string quartet playing Vivaldi and a beautiful woman who is both my friend and my lover, I’ll be happy.
How do you want to die: Without regret
Where you want to go to college: Not really sure. Back to Princeton, full-time? Some place that offers night classes?
What do you want to be when you grow up: Respected and remembered
What country would you most like to visit: New Zealand

LAYER NINE:

Number of drugs taken illegally: 0
Number of people I could trust with my life: Maybe one or two
Number of CDs that I own: I don’t really count my CDs anymore; 2796 songs on my iPod, though.
Number of piercings: 0
Number of tattoos: 0
Number of times my name has appeared in the newspaper: Many times; I used to write a column.
Number of scars on my body: One or two
Number of things in my past that I regret: My regrets are myriad, but I try not to dwell on them too much.
