…but my current lease doesn’t allow it. For now, I guess a Flash-enabled virtual one will have to do. Considering my ties to a certain NJ university, I couldn’t resist picking the tiger. I unapologetically stole his name from my favorite sci fi author. He likes it when you pet him. [via Watermark]

Aw, how cute! And might I just say SO much easier than a real pet :) But really, no matter how difficult they can be, there’s nothing like a furry thing snuggling with you to make it all worth while. Are you a cat or dog person?
I love dogs and cats. I have grown up with both, and would love to have both, but for now, I think a cat would be my most likely choice. There’s just something about a cat’s aloof independence that appeals to me,
I greatly prefer large dogs (German shepherds, huskies) etc. to the little guys like terriers, but large dogs aren’t too practical in an urban or suburban apartment setting. Of course, when any dog (no matter what size) looks up at me with big ‘ol puppy dog eyes, I can resist showing him/her affection.
Now I just have to find a place that allows pets when my lease expires this fall.
I agree, I’m a big dog person too. I have two labs and in my experience they actually do pretty well in smallish living areas - as long as they get LOTS of outdoor exercise. From what I can see from my dogs, a big house just gives them more choices of where to sleep all day long ;) But, like I said, they need tons of exercise so they don’t drive you crazy indoors.
