My first weblog post to notMike.com is dated August 8, 2004. Here we are one year later. Scary.
On this momentous occasion, let’s play the numbers game:
- 263 - number of entries
- 457 - number of comments
- 8,153 - comment spams blocked by MT-Blacklist
- 2 - number of hosts since I started
- 49,330 - unique visitors to this site
- 200,440 - pages served
- 7.84 - gigabytes served
- 1,055,688 - total site hits
- 21,881 - occurrences of ray or raye in my search logs
- 66.5 - pounds lost in 2004
- 15.5 - (soon to be lost) pounds gained back in 2005
- 73.42 - dollars earned through Amazon Associates
- 0 - dollars paid to me thanks to Google AdSense’s $100 minimum

Happy 1 year!
Thanks, Jenniy. It has been a fun year of blogging.
If I were you I’d remove your information about Google Adsense revenue unless you’re planning on never reaching that $100 goal.
Google frowns upon anyone breaching the Adsense contract wherein you pledged not to divulge any Adsense revenue information. Many people have been dropped from the Adsense program for stating their numbers.
Thanks, Ben. I missed that part of the AdSense agreement on my first skim through. I’ll probably never reach $100, but it would suck to be dropped.
FYI to others: section 7 of the Terms and Conditions does, in fact, prohibit disclosure of “click through rates or other statistics related to Site performance in the Program…,” so I deleted the potentially offending line.
The agreement does permit disclosure of “the amount of Google’s gross payments to You pursuant to the Program…,” so I kept that line (even though it’s still only zero).
The adsense TOS changed recently to allow disclosure of the total amount of any income paid to you by google (click through rates, etc. are still banned). So if you ever break the $100 limit and get a cheque off them, you’ll be able to let us know about it.
Well, that $100 milestone is a long way off, especially with ads for c h a i s e l o u n g e s on my front page ever since I blogged about blogging from a pool-side one in Hawai‘i back in June, but I will be sure to let you all know when I finally break it.
