The python

Battlestar Galactica crestThe rebirth of Battlestar Galactica is arguably the best example of a consistently well-written episodic science fiction drama to come along in some time. Tonight’s episode, part one of “Home,” was no exception.

What prompted this entry was a musing by Commander Adama from this episode that hit a little close to home.

It’s interesting. Betrayal has such a powerful grip on the mind. It’s almost like a python. It can squeeze out all other thought, suffocate all other emotion until everything is dead except for the rage. I’m not talking about anger. I’m talking about rage. I can feel it…right here, like it’s going to burst. I feel like I want to scream…right now, matter of fact.

So say we all.

So say we all!!!

I love this new series .. so much that when I didn’t have cable I went over to a friends house on Friday night in hopes to catch a peek .. :)

I now have cable .. and soooo planted Friday night.

Friday used to be a wasteland of low quality programming, now my TiVo is humming along all evening.

Earlier this month in the Chicago area, Comcast replaced the Sci-Fi Channel with the Golf Channel; those in the Windy City who need their Galactica and Stargate fix have to upgrade to digital cable. If Comcast NJ were to pull that stunt, that would be the absolute last straw.

Other science fiction shows have tried to explore conflict between protagonists or major characters with flawed personalities, but their efforts always seemed half-hearted and hollow; Battlestar Galactica finally gets it right.
