As part of a holiday morale boost slash wellness promotion thing, three masseuses were brought into our workplace.
Those who wanted massages could sign up for a fifteen-minute block.
It was nice, but I could have used an hour or two to work out the tension in my neck and upper back. I just got done with an all day Photoshop/InDesign project.
A few of my colleagues were quite amused that one of the massage therapists was named Suzy Chaos.

Hey, how about an update on the ultimate 2. Are you using the thing. I just got mine and I did the 1000 thing like you did except I sold my leg extension and squat attachment via ebay for 120.00 a piece cause my bowflex guy told me they technically do not need to be sent back. I also kep tone of my sets of 50 lb power rods as he said that was ok to. So for 5.00 I got the bracket they go in as well. All in all I made out pretty good. I was gonna sell my lat tower seperately as well but I figured that was pushing my luck. :)
Chris, I had such ambitious plans—both for really taking my fitness level up a notch and for writing up an extensive review. Unfortunately, work has taken over my life the past couple of months. Case in point, this Tuesday a professor had waited until the last minute to get me what I needed from her, which resulted in my having to work 17 hours nonstop so that her class would not be a total disaster.
What I need to do with the Bowflex is to build up some momentum again, not just use it once then not use it again for another week. Once I get back in the groove, I will write up my review for my new Bowflex.
I will mention a few pros and cons here. The machine is much more solid and well-constructed; it doesn’t move around as much when I am exercising. I love the squat attachment and the preacher curl attachment. The way the cables are connected to the leg attachment is vastly improved.
A few cons though—the floating pulleys tend to get twisted up. There are so many attachments that I have trouble finding a place to set them down in my small study. The top part of the leg attachment is tough to take on and off. I regret not buying the ab attachment. Also, even with the improvements to the Power Rod flexion, 410 pounds of resistance is just not enough for leg presses or calf-extensions for a 200-lb., 6-foot male.
Here is the most surprising part—the trade in. They never sent me the shipping materials to send the old one back! I called them two weeks after I got the Ultimate to ask what was up. They said I should receive the shipping labels and instructions within a few weeks of receiving the Ultimate. OK, so I waited, and waited, and waited. Meanwhile, the empty boxes are stacked up in my living room. I moved the Power Pro pieces to an empty closet to get them out of my bedroom.
I am not going to nag them about this. I called once. They forgot about me, and that is okay. I will wait a little longer, then throw out the shipping boxes and give the Power Pro to my younger brother.
I hear you about getting in the habit of using the thing. I got the same struggle. I am 6’1 260 right now. Strong as hell from years of on an off training but 30 lbs too fat if ya know what I mean. I should weight like 225. I have really thick strong legs and that is a lot of my weight. Jumping arund on my ddr pads works my legs so much there is no way I will doing regular squats on that thing. Squats make my knees make cracking noises but I can push some serious weight at the gym. Like 700 lbs last time I was there squating. Is it me or is it a total bitch to add rods when using the squat deal. I would even call it dangerous even when the squat is way down. Also I agree about the top part of the leg extension being tight and also the floating pulleys moving. Still way better than our old units though. I would also add that the handle release to fold up the unit is junky compared to everything else. What were they thinking there. Anyway, that does not surprise me about them not sending you anything about shipping it back. I have got nothing myself yet and like you say those stupid boxes are huge. Keep me posted and I will do the same. I wonder if they really even care in the long run. Would suck though if all the sudden our bowflex cards get and extra grand added onto them. Even if we call I can see that being a hassle down the road. I actually took pictures of my entire ultimate 2 assemble that I plan to make a little site with when I have a chance. Take Care… CJW Oh, I didnt get the ad deal yet either. I figure I’ll do crunches on the floor until there is a reason to get any more serious about it. I got too much fat to see ab muscles anyway and my ads are pretty strong.
